Marnie Stern - The Crippled Jazzer
As far as female guitarists go Marnie Stern must be at the top of the heap. Regardless of gender, m’lady has serious skillz. But, that voice. What are we gonna do with you, huh? Quite annoying, and for an entire album way too much to take. Luckily the controlled chaos of Zach Hill’s drumkit is there every step of the way, on loan from math-rock superstars Hella. If only Marnie would shut the fuck up and just play more often. The end of this track shows how much more potent and focused her sound could be.
